Casita Tulipan

My wife and I visited San Miguel de Allende for the first time in late November, 2020. We were so impressed by the beauty of the town, the climate and especially the careful enforcement and compliance with COVID regulations that we were determined to return to SMA for a longer stay before the end of Winter. We quickly focused on Cinco Flores located in a quiet street even more spacious and centrally situated than our already convenient and comfortable hotel.

After a tour of the premises at Cinco Flores, we almost immediately booked a month long stay there in Casita Tulipan which regrettably ended just days ago. The property is carefully maintained and furnished with every casita a bit different in sizes and beautiful artworks. Every casita except one has an amazing blooming and comfortable rooftop terrace. The kitchens are equipped for home cooking and nearby markets are convenient. But there also is an abundance of excellent nearby Mexican and International restaurants not to mention ample boutiques and art galleries. Visitors will have no need for a car while in SMA although attractive out of town excursions (hot springs, wineries and nearby cities and villages) abound.

We look forward to returning again.

Your Beautiful Casa Corazon

Señor Roberto, Re entry into the US was a bit of a shock. I have been wanting to write you and Carol how much we appreciated staying at your casita, although Diablo and I did have to have a talk. Carol, I just ordered five copies of your book. You had me laughing so hard in the first three days!! I am sending them to my sisters and brother to help keep perspective. I made a calculated choice to go when we did. I could see the front coming, that there might be trouble, but felt we could get there and get back before the gates came down on travel. WE had no wait at Dallas/Fort Worth. A week later, the wait was seven hours.

Now, San Miguel seems a bit like Brigadoon!!! I look at my videos of the dancers, the feathers, the Giants, listen to the Mariachi competing bands, think of the violinist at Milagros one night and the Spanish guitarist the next, the donkey lady whose wares I could not resist, the cobble stones I could! We loved the Allende Museum, but as I am rather tall, to read the vertical panels with the English on the lower half, I had some awkwardness, so gave it up and went through the museum on my knees…

We only had one bone break in our group, and she was a veteran! She should have known no iPhones while walking!!! My husband did not leave your casita at all for the first day. He was agog at the levels, the terraces, the kitchen, the architecture. For me it was the blossoming jasmine next door, the plumbago, the ceramic planters, the fish, the frogs, the mexican taxi/ bus sculptures, the art, the books, the Chinese, the kitchen is so well organized!!! I love everything hanging so you can see it and use it.

Eloy is darling and Wendy and Juan Pablo just delightful. I know, being as it is, with prior visitors clamoring for more, that there is not much chance of our revisiting next year…But on the chance!!!! The second or third week in March would be great for us. I keep thinking of no adhesive on the envelopes and crack up!! Keep us in mind.

Thank you, Reven F.

What a marvelous week we spent at the Casa Corazon Penthouse! The location is superb, in Centro and right in the heart of San Miguel. The Jardin and the Parroquia as well as shops and restaurants are just around the corner. Parque Benito Juarez is a short walk down Aldama. However, the penthouse is so beautiful that I wasn't sure I wanted to venture out. The artwork alone made me feel as if I was in a small museum. On our last day there, we were still discovering pieces we hadn't noticed. Three fireplaces, a great kitchen, several living areas, tiled showers, three terraces, a welcoming corridor as soon as we entered the door from the street, beautiful architecture-- I was in awe the entire time. The views from the two upper terraces are breathtaking. Morning coffee was enjoyable with a view of the distant mountains and of colorful hot air balloons passing overhead. The sunset and the view of the Parroquia lit up at night were lovely. Magali and Juan Pablo took great care of the casita. Robert was responsive and helpful when we were booking and afterward. Leaving after a week was difficult!

Hi Robert, Everything is even better than expected! We are thoroughly enjoying our stay here in Casita Tulipán, where there is beauty (as well as utility) in every detail—we find something to appreciate everywhere the eye alights. Magaly showed me how to make chiles rellenos, rajas, and rice, which we shared with friends. Now I am wondering what kind of propina to add on to the one we were going to leave anyway.

“We felt like we were staying at a friends house. Penthouse is a great size and cozy at the same time. The hosts have a fun collection of the art of Mexico and beyond. Cinco Flores has authentic architecture, water features and plantings. Staff speaks some English. The location could not be beat. Nothing better than feeling like a local when you enter and leave via the big door right onto the Aldama! And for being so close to The Jardin and The Parroquia it is very quiet. And you will get use to the call of the church bells. A great value.”

“Robert, your home is a lovely representation of San Miguel. The architecture and your art collection just beautiful. We felt like we were in the heart of Mexico. Thanks again for hosting us.”

"We take the color, warmth, hospitality and comfort of both Mexico and beautiful Casita Lirio home with us to Australia".

Sophie and Rom, Sydney Australia

"We could live here quite happily for more than a week. This apartment is an example of good design providing comfort, convenience and pleasure... when we arrived Gayle had some gastric distress; Carol and Robert had great suggestions, from a nearby source of soothing rice pudding to names of doctors".

Arthur and Gayle, St. Louis MO

"We loved calling Casita Lirio "mi casa" for two months... I loved reading in the rooftop terrace".

Laurie and Ric, Sarasota, FL

"Some places hold magic, some places create lasting memory, some places remind us to leave room for the unexpected, San Miguel and Casita Lirio are such places".

Cheryl, Candi, and Chris, Seattle
